Nestlé has today announced its new 2020 commitments together with three bold ambitions for 2030, in support of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The long-term ambitions: to help 50 million children to lead healthier lives; help to improve 30 million livelihoods in communities directly connected to our business activities; and strive for zero environmental impact in our operations.
We continue our work to bring societal commitments to life through three impact areas: individuals and families, our communities, and the planet.
One example is a global commitment to reduce the sugar we add in our products by 5% by 2020. In Europe alone, reaching this target will mean we will remove at least 18000 tonnes of sugar from products. In Central and West Africa, we strengthened to accelerate the reduction of salt in our whole family cereals and culinary products.
This and other examples come together in our report ‘Nestlé in society: Creating Shared Value and meeting our commitments 2016’. It details our 42 Nestlé in society commitments, to be achieved by 2020, the progress we’ve made and our ambitions for the future, all of which helped us top the 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
