Nestlé for Healthier Kids initiative officially launched | Nestlé

On December 5, Nestlé Gabon officially launched « Nestlé for Healthier Kids » program in partnership with the Gabonese Ministry of National Education. The program aimed at helping parents and children lead healthier lives. The ceremony was attended by various stakeholders including, the Minister of National Education, the Director of the National Pedagogical Institute, Directors of schools covered by the program, civil society organizations and media.

In its pilot phase, the program will be implement in five primary schools in the city capital of Libreville and will help more than 1,100 children by the end of the 2018 - 2019 school year to lead healthier lives.

“A healthy child is the pride of his family and of society. Therefore, helping kids to leave healthier live through good nutrition, physical activities, along with good hygiene, healthy hydration and vegetable gardening is more than an engagement, it’s a priority which requires all necessary efforts to ensure happiness and well-being of our children” said Abdoulaye Diongue, Country Business Manager, Nestlé Gabon.

Gabonese Minister of National Education, Mr. Francis NKEA NZIGUE said: “This initiative is a concrete example of public & private partnership to promote good nutrition in schools in Gabon. It will help our children grew up healthily and lead parents to live healthier live. The Ministry of National Education will ensure the pilot phase is well implemented and extended to other regions of the Country in the future.”

In line with Nestlé's purpose, which is to enhance the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future for individuals and families, Nestlé for Healthier Kids initiative will definitely help to solve public health issues such as anemia and obesity at school. It’s also a step forward in the achievement of our ambition to help 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030.
