Best social innovations shortlisted for Nestlé’s 2018 CSV Prize|Nestlé

We are excited to announce the semi-finalists for Nestlé’s 2018 Creating Shared Value Prize .

From over 1000 entries, 56 applicants have now been shortlisted . Working in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, they each seek to address a growing need for good nutrition, safe water and economic opportunities.

Four (4) candidates out of those shortlisted, come from the Central and West Africa Region specifically Ghana.

Scaling Farmerline’s 399 Services aims at connecting farmers to financial services, information and high-quality input, to increase their yield & income.

Improving Lives through the Moringa Tree focuses on connecting the dots between the untapped values in moringa, farmers growing it, and global consumer.

Ignitia Tropical Weather Forecasting is helping to send highly accurate 48-hour forecasts to small-scale farmers daily via SMS, allowing them to increase yield and reduce loss.

The three (3) projects above all fall under the Rural Development category.

Saha Global , classified under the water category helps set entrepreneurial local women in hard to reach villages up with a business that provides clean water at a price all can afford.

The prize – established eight years ago – supports social entrepreneurs tackling the world’s biggest issues in nutrition, water and rural development. Winners receive crucial funding to scale up their initiatives and make a lasting impact on people’s lives.

For this year’s prize, Nestlé is partnering with Ashoka, the world’s leading network of systems-changing social entrepreneurs. Together they are looking for the next big social innovation that will create the most value and make the most difference to today’s society.

Five finalists will be chosen to pitch their ideas at the 2018 Creating Shared Value Forum in Brazil. The winner will be announced on 16 March and receive prizes totaling CHF 500,000 to help develop their initiative.
