As a partner in education in Burkina Faso for several years, Nestlé Burkina, through its brand NIDO, has awarded several excellence scholarships to the best students and prizes to teachers from all 13 regions of the country. This recognition took place on the National Day of Academic Excellence, which was held on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Ouagadougou, under the high authority of the President of Burkina Faso
During the ceremony celebrating the top students and teachers, Nestlé Burkina announced a check of 100,000 FCFA to each of the top primary school students, as well as six months' supply of NIDO breakfast and school kits for the new academic year. In addition to these prizes, the company will reward the top primary school teachers by providing them with product kits.
Through this initiative, Nestlé reaffirms its commitment to quality education in Burkina Faso. Since 2021, NIDO has been offering excellence scholarships to students in Ouagadougou every year. This year, the national awarding of these scholarships reflects Nestlé's determination to strengthen its efforts in support of better education.
"Contributing to better access to education is a shared responsibility. Everyone must engage with education stakeholders. Children symbolize hope; they are the future of this nation. Helping them grow better is essential to us. We will naturally continue to promote quality education in Burkina Faso," said the General Manager of Nestlé Burkina, Sidiki Diawara.
The happy recipients and their parents expressed their gratitude to Nestlé Burkina and its brand NIDO with enthusiasm. They assured that these rewards would encourage them to redouble their efforts to maintain their level of excellence in school.
Kevin Zaongo is one of the top students in the Central-East region. He obtained an average of 09.76/10 in the Primary Education Certificate (CEP). As a recipient, he is committed to persevering in his efforts to maintain this level of excellence. "I am very happy to have received this prize. It will help me to continue working hard and come back even stronger next year. I thank Nestlé Burkina for this," he said.
In addition to these academic excellence scholarships, several parents will soon benefit from new scholarships and kits as part of the back-to-school campaign that NIDO is preparing to launch. It is worth noting that Nestlé has already provided bicycles, kits, and school supplies to parents during the previous school year.
Additionally, the brand recently increased the number of eco-friendly desks and benches it donated to the Ministry of National Education to 700. Furthermore, every year, over 5,000 parents receive training on proper nutrition provided by the company.
Nestlé Burkina Faso, a subsidiary of the Nestlé Group, has been present in Burkina Faso since 2009. It contributes to creating added value for consumers and communities through its various products and services. Nestlé believes in the power of good nutrition to improve the quality of life for everyone, today and for future generations.
