For the third year in a row, under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nestlé Cameroon organized a multi-stakeholder forum on October 15, 2019 at Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé. The goal of the forum was to bring together health care professionals, teachers, researchers, consumer associations, media and bloggers to exchange on ways to collectively address hunger in Cameroon. Held as a prelude to World Food Day celebration, the forum was attended by the representative of the Minister of Public Health and his Excellency, Pietro Lazzeri, Swiss ambassador to Cameroon.

In an inclusive approach, the forum allowed experts and various stakeholders to discuss about the theme: " healthy, affordable and accessible nutrition: challenges and opportunities to address hunger by 2035 in Cameroon". As a result, practical recommendations were made for the development of a multi-stakeholder strategy to trigger urgent concrete actions to address hunger in Cameroon.

Indeed, hunger remains a major concern in Cameroon as per indicators on nutrition. According to the Cameroon Demographic and Health Survey of 2018, nearly 2 in 3 children under 5 continue to suffer from anemia and nearly one-third of these children are stunted. According to the same survey, nearly 40% of women aged 15 to 49 suffer from anemia.

Therefore, as per its purpose, which is about enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future, Nestlé has made a global commitment to help 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030 through its products, services and research. Through its range of fortified products (MAGGI cube, NIDO milk powder, CERELAC), Nestlé Cameroun helps more than a million consumers every day in Cameroon to eat healthy diets.

"I am happy to know that every day in Cameroon, a mother in Ebolowa can cook a healthy diet with MAGGI cubes enriched with iron to help her family fight against anemia. That a dad in Bertoua can easily prepare his daughter's breakfast in the morning, with a NIDO Forti Choco sahet enriched with iron and vitamins, to get her mind and body ready for school. That a mother in Kousseri can, from 6 months, offer a sachet of CERELAC enriched with iron and vitamins to her little boy, to help him to grow healthy. Nestlé Cameroon will continue to lead efforts to help families eat healthy diets every day in Cameroon. " said Robert HELOU, General Administrator, Nestlé Cameroun

It encourages consumers to continue to trust Nestlé products contributing to their health and well-being.
