Balance is the key word when it comes to salt. In low quantities salt can actually be good for you, it’s only in excess that salt can cause problems for our bodies. For a guideline the World Health Organisation recommends less than 2,000mg of salt per day for adults. Often the best way to reduce the amount of salt you consume is to add less salt when cooking, especially as many ingredients already contain some salt.
