Meet the Women Behind Your Favorite Nestlé Products in Cameroon

Back to Press releases

Ever wondered who is responsible for producing your favorite MAGGI®, NIDO®, and NESCAFE® products in Cameroon? Allow us to introduce the amazing team at Nestlé Cameroun, a subsidiary of Nestlé S.A. They are passionately committed to providing Central African consumers with safe, quality and nutritious culinary and beverage products.

Nestlé has been present in Cameroon for over 40 years, committed to unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone today and for future generations. Our wide range of products, including culinary, dairy, cereals, and beverages, caters to the unique tastes and nutritional needs of individuals and families in Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Congo and Sao Tome and Principe.

The Douala Factory is the heart of Nestlé’s operations in Cameroon and Central Africa. Located in Bonandale, an outskirt community of Bonaberi, the factory is the livelihood of over 250 Cameroonians who work in different capacities. Behind the scenes, a group of remarkable women lead the charge in ensuring that MAGGI® cubes, liquid Arome, Chicken and Shrimp tablets, NIDO® and NESCAFE® products manufactured at the factory meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Julia

Julia Atta – Factory Manager, Nestlé Cameroun: Julia, a leader with over 18 years’ experience within Nestlé, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Douala Factory. With her keen attention to detail, she ensures that all technical and production processes adhere to strict quality control measures and Nestlé's safety protocols. Julia's expertise contributes to the smooth and efficient production of many stock keeping units of MAGGI®, NIDO®, and NESCAFE® brands which are sold across Central Africa.

"As we celebrate World Food Safety Day, I want my journey to inspire and empower women, challenging traditional gender roles and creating a positive impact in the workplace. I strongly believe that women can excel in any field, including those traditionally considered 'men's jobs,' and make significant contributions to the success of organizations. Working for a company like Nestlé, which is dedicated to gender equality, brings immense satisfaction.

What motivates me is the knowledge that my team and I work tirelessly every day to ensure that our consumers across Central Africa have access to nutritious, high-quality, and affordable food. On this World Food Safety Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers while empowering women to thrive in the field of food production and quality assurance”.

Edith Nkemboh

Edith Nkemboh – Quality Assurance Manager: As the Quality Assurance Manager, Edith Nkemboh is responsible for the rigorous testing and analysis of raw materials, ingredients, and finished products. Her extensive knowledge of quality assurance protocols ensures that every batch of MAGGI® and NIDO® products meets Nestlé's stringent quality standards. Edith's commitment to excellence is key in maintaining the trust of our customers and consumers.

“What I do is both challenging and fascinating. I juggle multiple issues, navigate frequent changes in standards, regulations, and consumer preferences. But what makes my job truly rewarding is the chance to learn something new every day and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally. As we celebrate World Food Safety Day, one important advice I will give consumers is to read food labels on packaging. It's crucial because labels provide vital information about food safety, including the product's shelf life, allergens, and instructions for proper storage and preparation.” Edith Nkemboh, Quality Assurance Manager.
