Our commitment: Build biomedical science leading to health-promoting products, personalised nutrition and digital solutions
Researching nutrition’s role in preventing and treating disease
The number of people over the age of 60 is expected to double between 2015 and 2050. People are living longer, and often with less support from healthcare systems. Through biomedical science, we aim to understand, treat and ultimately help prevent disease throughout our lives.
We are advancing the therapeutic role of nutrition, and also exploring the role of genetics, environment and lifestyle.
Progress against our objectives
|Our objectives||Our results|
By 2020: Develop digital nutrition profiling for calculating nutrient intakes, as well as for making recommendations for nutritional balance, into a comprehensive tool to assist individuals and families to lead happier and healthier lives.
By 2020: Develop new interventional nutritional solutions driven by studies and diagnostic profiling. These programmes will focus on key areas such as metabolism, gastrointestinal and brain health, healthy ageing, skin health and pets.
Continuing to develop the technology powering a range of digital applications to assess and optimise nutritional balance with personalised nutritional recommendations.
Continuing to research a nutrient profiling approach to measure nutritional status for defining personal health.
Finalized, validated and published novel methods to measure the nutrient status, thereby continuing to research a comprehensive nutrient profiling approach for defining personal health.
