Inside the challenge

Responsible water stewardship is vital to the future of our business in Central and West Africa. We are committed to facilitate the sustainable management of water catchments, where we source our goods, around our factories and where our consumers live.

Water is also critical to the sustainability of our value chain. Our employees, suppliers and customers all need access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. In addition, it is important to ensure the effectiveness of our nutrition products. However, millions of people in our region still lack access to improved drinking water sources and improved sanitation facilities.

To deliver our commitment, we must make sure our operations use water efficiently and do not compromise the right to water of local communities.

In 2013, we launched the Nestlé Commitment on Water Stewardship to guide our actions.
